They both reported on tremendously positive experiences there, giving a preliminary justiﬁcation for keeping this workshop as part of the FURST program. We have also concluded the immersion experience of the inaugural FURST cohort. The integration of the FURST students into the REU program went very smoothly both from an academic, and from a social point of view. We did feel however that bringing the FURST students for the ﬁrst four weeks of the REU program might make it easier for them to integrate socially, and will entertain this option for the future years.
