This article offers the result of a jap nationwide study venture performed in 1988-1993, frequently often called the hot RC venture. constructing complicated strengthened concrete development constructions with excessive power and prime quality fabrics lower than its auspices, the venture aimed to advertise development of high-rise bolstered concrete structures in hugely seismic components similar to Japan. The venture lined the entire features of strengthened concrete constructions, specifically fabrics, structural parts, structural layout, development and feasibility reports. as well as offering those effects, the textual content contains chapters giving an user-friendly rationalization of contemporary analytical innovations - finite point research and earthquake reaction research.

The area in Fig. 1 for the New RC was further divided into four zones, namely zones I, II—1, II—2, and III. Structures in these zones were studied by somewhat different tactics. Zone I corresponds to concrete up to 60 MPa and steel up to 700 MPa, which was assumed to be the direct target of the New RC project whose results could be compiled and put into practical use right at the conclusion of the five-year project in 1993. For this zone the extrapolation of the knowledge of current RC structures was thought to be relatively effective.

As mentioned earlier the story height of typical apartment houses is about 3 m. It is then essential to provide horizontal openings penetrating through the girder web for piping and air ducts.

Background of the Project The background of this national research project is described in detail in the preceding chapter. It will be briefly summarized here. Reinforced concrete (RC) has been widely used for lowrise building construction ranging from two to seven stories because of its excellent fire resistance and durability, low cost, and easy maintenance.
